Five State Solo Golds For CC Five

Five students returned from State Solo & Ensemble, each with a Solo Gold Medal. To qualify, each student first earned a District Gold rating at Wayne High School in January. Students in photo are: Nicole Yingst, Sam Spencer, Olivia Western (front) Mandy Peters and Rachel Hazelet.

 


All-State Band

This past weekend Mandy Peters participated in the Indiana Bandmasters Association All-State Band. She had a full weekend of rehearsals which led up to a Sunday concert on March 15.

 

 

 


Winter Percussion & Five Soloists Earn State GOLD

On a snowy February day, CCHS band students boarded a bus for Indianapolis. Each student earned the right to perform at ISSMA State Solo & Ensemble by earning a district level gold rating two weeks earlier at Wayne High School. Winter Percussion (pictured here) was one of the entries earning a State Gold. Five soloists included Sam Spencer, Rachel Hazelet, Mandy Peters, Nicole Yingst, Olivia Western.

Career Shadowing in Music

Band students are encouraged to consider career shadowing in music. There are so many avenues to pursue in the music industry. Obviously music education and music performance but also music business, music pedagogy, music composition, commercial music, music sales, music engineering, recording arts, music therapy, music history and even music law. Rachel Hazelet used her career shadowing day to walk in the shoes of Eric Schweikert. Eric is a member of the Fort Wayne Philharmonic and music professor at IPFW.


Twenty-Four Students Qualify For ISSMA State Solo & Ensemble

Columbia City High School will have a good representation in Indianapolis. Congratulations to the following students and ensembles. These students will perform at ISSMA State at North Central High School on Saturday, February 21, 2009.

Columbia City Takes 2nd at MSNA Finals

After an exhausting day that started at 4:30a, the Eagles broke the 6th place curse and bring home 2nd from MSBA Finals. The Marching Eagles also topped their all-time high score with a 79.9. The weekend was a fitting finish to a fantastic season.

 


Again!

For the first time since 1998, the Marching Eagles have earned a Gold rating at ISSMA Regional. Not only was there a Gold, but the Eagles qualified in the top 10 northern Indiana bands that will continue on to ISSMA Semi-State at Warren Central High School on October 25. The Eagles take the field at 4:02p.


Gold Baby!!! Band Earns Regional Bid

For only the second time since 1999, the Marching Eagles have earned a Gold rating at District to qualify them to continue to ISSMA Regional. ISSMA Regional will be October 18 at Chesterton HS. The Eagles perform at 6:48p.

 

 


Eagles Take First at Hamilton Southeastern

After a 3 hour rain delay, the Eagles had their chance to perform. The Eagles took first place clearing the pack by 8 points.

ISSMA State Solo & Ensemble

Three CCHS students performed at State Solo & Ensemble on Feb. 23. Alan Murphy, Mandy Peters and Derek Line. Each student played a solo at North Central HS. Combined CCHS brings home two gold ratings and 1 silver. (Feb. 23)


Winter Guard Holds Strong

Feb. 23 was yet another strong performance for Winter Guard. In competition at Anderson, the guard took second place honors out of 7 in class AA. I am so proud of this group for doing so well in a new class! (Feb. 23)


Winter Percussion is Back

Feb. 23 also marked the return of Winter Percussion after many years of absence. The ensemble performed at Greenfield Central. Out of 5 schools, CC brings home 4th. This is a good start to a new venue of music performance at CCHS. (Feb. 23)


Music Students Tour University of St. Francis & Sweetwater

Twenty Columbia City music students had the opportunity to participate in a Music Technology workshop at the University of St. Francis. Following the workshop, lunch was provided at Sweetwater Sound. Students were next given a demonstration of Sweetwater's in house, state of the art auditorium. The day rounded out with a tour of the facility and a short presentation about how to plan for a career in music technology.

Winter Guard Performs at Lafayette Jefferson

The Winter Guard had another outstanding performance at Lafayette Jefferson. In a huge class of 14 AA guards, CC wound up in a very respectable 3rd place. Next Saturday they will compete at Anderson HS. (Feb. 16)

CC Winter Guard places 3rd at Eastern HS Winter Guard Invitational. (Feb. 9)


CC Pep Band at Grace College

Columbia City Pep Band joined forces with the Grace Lancer Band as the Lancers squared off with Indiana Wesleyan. Columbia City had ties to both sides of the court: Columbia City 2004 graduates Marcus Moore and Scott Moore playing for Grace and Zach Coverstone playing for Indiana Wesleyan. Winter Guard opens season at Bishop Dwenger

In their first contest of the season the Winter Gaurd left the floor as Class AAA Champions. To top off the day, the Guard was bumped to Class AA. (Jan. 26)

Seniors 2007Marching Eagles In Finals

November 3 marked the final contest for the Eagles in 2007. Twenty-nine band participated in Championships prelims. The top 10 bands qualified for Championship finals. CC qualified for finals in 6th place of 29. In the finals round, Columbia City defended their 6th position by earning their highest score of the season: 76.5.


CC Charges into ISSMA Regional

The Eagles headed to Lafayette Jefferson HS to compete in ISSMA Regional competition among 15 bands. The Eagles presented their best show and earned their highest score of the season. With heads held high, the Marching Eagles look forward to their final invitational of 2007 in Madison, IN on October 27. The season will culminate in Beavercreek, OH on November 3 for MSBA Championship Finals.


Marching Eagles Take First at Martinsville

The Eagles traveled south of Indy to to compete at Martinsville on October 6. The band earned first among competitors: Orleans (92,98,99 State Qualifier), Perry Meridian, Owen Valley (91,93,94,96,97,99 State Qualifier) & Princeton Community. The band also earned Best Music, Best Visual and Best GE captions.


Sweet 15

Next Saturday the Marching Eagles will travel to Layafette Jefferson to perform in ISSMA Regional competition. This is the first time the Marching Eagles have qualified for ISSMA Regional since 1999. The top 5 of these 15 bands will proceed to the RCA Dome for State Finals 10/20/07.


CC EARNS GOLD

The Columbia City Marching Eagles earned their first ISSMA Regional qualification since 1999. Watch the video here . The band will next compete at Martinsville, IN on October 6 and then at Lafayette, IN on October 13. The season will culminate at MSBA Championships in Beavercreek, OH on November 3.
